ABSTRACT

Overview This chapter is the first of two chapters that examine the specific tools used by professionals who manage the media, public relations or promotional activities of a sport organization. Each of the chapters focus on sport organizations or individual athletes receiving as much media coverage as possible, with strategies and approaches tailored to their particular level and context (elite or community and profit or non-profit are two major distinctions that impact the type of media coverage being sought in a particular context). This chapter provides practical information related to media releases, fact sheets, media advisories and media guides.
