ABSTRACT

In order to create shareholder value, the enabling style of leadership requires at least a moderate level of buy-in from a significant proportion of the total workforce within the business. Thus, by comparison to the extreme needs of the inspiring leader style that were considered in Chapter 4, this leadership style can be viewed as somewhat less demanding. Not surprisingly, it is also normally correspondingly less value generating, as well as still being difficult to sustain over time when it is implemented right at the top of an organization. However, enabling style leaders at several levels in the business are essential to any company that aims to sustain the delivery of extraordinary financial performance.
