ABSTRACT

This building block, designing the future, builds on the previous blocks to convert the desired arrangement into a commercially sound framework. This block covers the detailed design of the arrangement, and precedes the selection process because, logically, accepting a bid for an ill-defined product is unsound practice. The contract and SLA, in particular, are the organization's formal ‘product’ specification documents. They must be detailed at some point. Leaving it until later means that the supplier has a greater opportunity to drive the process – which may not be in the organization's best interest.
