ABSTRACT

One of the great unanswerable questions we face as coaches is, ‘What aspects of themselves can people change, and what can’t they change?’ Then, within the body of things that they can change there lie those things that they might change but which might have undesirable effects and would thus be best left as they are. These matters are not often discussed in coaching manuals, where the flexibility and ‘improvability’ of humankind is often taken for granted.
