ABSTRACT

Productivity is dependent to a great extent upon having the staff available to do the job required. As a team leader you will be aware of how important it is to make sure that you have enough staff available to carry out the work, and that these staff need to have the necessary skills to work effectively. A business needs to do likewise, but on a wider and longer-term basis. Human resource planning, as it is known, is concerned with forecasting what position the business will be in in the future – where its markets will be, what those markets will want – and calculating how to meet those needs in human resource terms.
