ABSTRACT

Hilary Arlington (HA) and two friends, Steve Newbury (SN) and Evelyn Hamilton (EH), had decided to set up their own business, running a high-street printing business. Hilary was a talented and experienced designer, Steve Newbury had an accounting background and worked for the Company Secretary of a plc, and Evelyn Hamilton had sales experience both ‘on the road’ as a sales manager and running a retail shop. They were sure that there was a substantial local market and as yet there was no competition. Hilary was the driving force behind the idea – the one to whom the others looked for general leadership and ideas. They estimated six full-time and parttime staff would be needed.
