ABSTRACT

The World Wide Web has several specific requirements for displaying images and text. Pictures are

usually displayed as JPEG files while graphics might be more suited to the Gif file format.

JPEG allows you to compress the data so that it can be transmitted and read very rapidly,

allowing you to display a web page quickly. Graphics with limited color palettes can be better saved

in the Gif file format, as this is ideal for limiting color data (and therefore making small files). The

third picture file option is the PNG file format. This has many advantages over the JPEG file format

and one large disadvantage: as this is a newer file format, not all web browsers might support the

format.
