In setting out the crown and channel levels, either two different travellers or one traveller and double sight rails may be used (see Figures 3.2 and 3.3(a)).
3.1 Setting Out Prior to Starting Earthworks Before the earthworks necessary to a road improvement or new construction can be started, the site for the intended work must be surveyed and set out. This survey would not normally be part of the work of the roadwork craftsman.
