ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the following members of the multimedia and web site production team: writer, content strategist, instructional designer, information architect or interactive architect, interface designer, animator, project manager, video/audio director/developer, photographer/videographer, voice talent and actors, programmer/coder and product manager. Content can be presented in a wide variety of ways: animation, video, text, graphics, exercises, etc. The information architect, sometimes also called an interactive architect, is a close cousin to the instructional designer. Sometimes the same person has both skill sets. Many of the same steps previously defined in the instructional design definition also hold true here, but the overall goal is somewhat different. The interface designer position can vary from project to project. Sometimes it incorporates the information architect and instructional designer positions along with graphic design skills. Usability testing makes sure that the product functions effectively from the user’s point of view, while achieving the client’s goals.
