ABSTRACT

In the previous three chapters, which together made up Part two of this book, we set out the new context in which the development professional must operate. Hopefully, this will help to determine the desired position for the function in the organization. In this third part of the book we will ask what should we do: what are the problems we encounter and how should we seek to overcome them? We will consider in turn some implications of the move to a learner-centred approach, some key processes, the place of the training course, non-course interventions and issues on technology and value. First, we will offer some general comments on how the profession can shape its future.
