ABSTRACT
Thyristors belong to the group of components known as silicon controlled switches or silicon controlled rectifiers (shortened to SCS or SCR).
Their name suggests that their main use is for turning a current on and off. The name ‘rectifier’ indicates that, as in a diode, the current can flow only in one direction.
