Conventional thinking in HR circles has taken the view that the purpose of HR strategy is to support business strategy. Here, a case has been made for HR strategy as being a source of true added value in its own right. This added value will only come from HR strategy when it has genuinely created a competitive business advantage. Its importance, if it is done effectively, is relatively easy to see. Now we come to the question of who, exactly, is going to make HR strategy a reality?
