Apart from the knowledge required to carry out the verification process competently, the person conducting the inspection and test, must be in possession of appropriate test instruments.
Instruments In order to fulfil the basic requirements for testing to the IEE Regulations (BS 7671), the following instruments are needed: • a continuity tester (low ohms) • an insulation resistance tester • a loop impedance tester • an RCD tester • a prospective short-circuit current (PSCC) tester • an approved test lamp or voltage indicator • a proving unit.
