ABSTRACT
Metadata that is captured during acquisition will be enhanced during the ingestion and cataloguing processes. Both manual and automated processes will be applied during the ingestion process to achieve the optimum information within the metadata for subsequent retrieval of the asset. Figure 4.15.4 gives a basic list of 13 items that may be included in metadata. It is not unusual to have several hundred fields of data; most asset management systems have an infinite capacity for metadata, as it will grow rapidly with each entry enhancement.
