ABSTRACT

What is organizational structure? An organizational structure is the framework that outlines how tasks are divided, grouped and coordinated within an organization (Robbins et al., 2004). Every sport organization has a structure that outlines the tasks to be performed by individuals and teams. Finding the ‘right’ structure for an organization involves juggling requirements to formalizeprocedureswhilst fostering innovation and creativity. Finding the ‘right’ structure ensures adequate control of employee activities without unduly affecting people’s motivation andattitudes towork, and it clarifies reportingandcommunication lineswhile trying to reduce unnecessary and costly layers of management.
