ABSTRACT
The nonprofit sector comprises organizations that are markedly different from State organizations discussed in the previous chapter, and also profit seeking organizations that are discussed in the next chapter. Nonprofit organizations vary in size, focus and capability and include groups as diverse as community associations, chambers of commerce, private schools, charitable trusts and foundations, welfare agencies and sporting organizations. Nonprofit organizations are a major part of many industries in health services, education, housing, welfare, culture and sport.
