ABSTRACT

Customizing the settings is crucial to getting the most out of any application, and Xpress Pro is no exception. Virtually the entire Avid experience is affected by the various customized settings and views. The nerve center for customizing the interface and toolset is the Project window’s Settings tab. There are lots of reasons to copy, trade, or save settings. One of the main reasons is to enforce standard operating procedures across all of the editors, and editing, logging, or digitizing stations. The second exercise involves the creation of a settings file—similar to XpressPro_Settings_Compilation—that can be shared with other editors. The third exercise involves swapping a specific individual setting with another editor. The fourth exercise demonstrates how to import a new user profile into the system. The fifth exercise explains how to create a site settings file that will dictate the settings of all new users and projects on the Xpress Pro system.
