ABSTRACT

The first step in getting the project started in Xpress Pro is capturing the media. This is also known as digitizing. The Capture tool provides editors with all of the controls necessary to bring tape-based media onto their hard drives. They will find that the tool is divided into five basic groups. They are: recording controls; clip information; storage information; DV-specific information; and deck type, controls, marks, and tape names. The red button at top left is the Capture button. Unlike the trashcan on a Mac or the Recycle Bin on a Windows system, the Trashcan in the Capture tool is used only when editors want to stop capturing and they don’t want to use what has been captured so far. Next to the Trashcan is the Capture/Log Mode button. The next button is a Deck button. Choosing this button determines whether or not a deck will be used online or offline.
