ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with two of the most important aspects of media management. One is how to access the footage editors need quickly and efficiently during the editing process. The other is how to manage their media at the completion of a project to allow for the best use of disk space and to prepare them to deal with revisions and other aspects of the “after life” of their projects. Managing projects is the first step to getting organized. To create folders of projects, Xpress Pro has three categories of projects: Private, Shared, and External. Film bins are essentially metal square containers with lint-free cloth bags from which editors can gently cascade their film dailies. Sometimes there can be so many bins in a project that it is necessary to organize the bins in some meaningful way. To do this, editors can create folders and subfolders within a project to organize the bins.
