ABSTRACT

Saffron cake is very popular in Cornwall. Saffron, a prized ingredient of Indian and Central Asian food, is thought to have been introduced to Cornwall by Phoenician traders perhaps hundreds of years B.C., who took tin from local mines back to their eastern Mediterranean lands.
