ABSTRACT

These opening sections have invited you to think about the consequences of what is often called macroeconomics – a study of economics that looks at the ‘big picture’ of world economics. It tries to explain how the human influences of politics, global business decisions, trends in population numbers and consumption interact with influences largely outside the control of man (such as the climate) to build up the picture which the observer can see in total – a bit like a completed jigsaw with all its pieces in place.
