ABSTRACT
Maritime nations have a huge energy resource in the form of waves. In Architecture in a Climate of Change1 a number of emerging wave technologies were described. This chapter explores further systems which are at or near the development stage. The sea is, in effect, a huge mass-spring system which oscillates with a fixed frequency. The average wave length is around 120 m and, in high seas, a wave carries about 100 kW/m of potential energy.
