Before you start to cut you should log the film you receive from the laboratory. Logging involves making a note of the edge numbers of each shot and take. This may sound a time consuming process. In fact it can save time for, while the reels are complete, logging is a simple process. Finding original material for an individual shot at a later stage of cutting can take time if there are no logging records to refer to. The log sheets provide a quick and easy way of locating a piece of original film.
