ABSTRACT
The external areas of the built environment cover a wide range of topics which deserve more detailed treatment than they will be given here. However, this does not indicate their lack of importance – the route that a disabled person takes in getting to a building is extremely important – but these areas are dealt with well in the documents recommended at the end of the chapter, and do not form a great part of the author’s experience.
