ABSTRACT

Improving communications about the job opens up the road to progress with benefits available for both the private and public sectors of the economy. The language of work roles is intricate and precise: jobholders understand more about what is expected from them and managers understand more about what is actually going on. Yet the gains are not confined to better communication. The rapid interflow of information has not only enabled jobs to deliver more but has provided general lessons on the best ways of organizing work.
