ABSTRACT

In the many years we have been working in and for IT management, we have come across hundreds of books and courses telling IT managers how to construct IT and IS strategies. We have found even more books on how to ‘run’ an IT department or function. Many of these books and courses are worthy and helpful. Yet, in our experience, few of them deal with what we believe is the hardest part of being a successful IT manager. That is dealing with the politics in organizations.
