ABSTRACT

Many great and historical economists have predicted a dark scenario on the destiny of capitalism. Specifically, Adam Smith spoke of the saturation of demand and the degeneration of the labor force, Karl Marx of the alienation of the working class, Keynes of persistent underemployment, and Schumpeter of the degeneration and end of culture. Each time I think about the hidden meaning in these words which have been passed down to us, I believe that Japan, and all advanced nations, will head down the same path of destiny as the Roman Empire, which, as a result of its affluence, triumphed to its destruction.
