ABSTRACT
It is said that Asian countries, which have become a kind of economic growth center for the world, should involve China in efforts to create an economic bloc along the lines of NAFTA or the EU. The United States, showing some degree of concern about these developments, is participating in APEC. What one should realize, however, is that the continent of Asia shows diversity, both culturally and historically. Obviously Asian countries will continue to emphasize their individual unique characteristics. I believe that the energies emanating from Asian countries will spread out in different directions, rather than converge into one.
