ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the concepts and conditions associated with corporate entrepreneurship. This progresses the stance adopted through Chapters 1 and 2 which recognizes that the principles of entrepreneurship can be employed effectively within established organizations. Thus, the ideas within this chapter are considered to be equally applicable to profit-making organizations and those within the not-for-profit sector. The chapter describes and evaluates a number of approaches through which organizations can effect an entrepreneurial approach towards their operating environment. More specifically, the chapter will consider:

the entrepreneurial challenge for established organizations;

conditions which impede and encourage entrepreneurial behaviour within organizations;

intrapreneurs and intrapreneurship;
