ABSTRACT

The objective of this chapter is to develop an understanding of the managerial and operational issues pertinent to an entrepreneurial venture within the hospitality, tourism and leisure industries. Specifically, this chapter aims to advance the understanding of:

differences between the management and operations of small entrepreneurial ventures and larger, mature organizations;

problems inherent with entrepreneurial management;

organizational structure within entrepreneurial firms;

entrepreneurial management and the organizational life-cycle;

entrepreneurship and the issue of business failure.
