There are entire libraries of books on directing drama for the screen and volumes of past screenplays are published. This chapter is addressed not at the film buff who is interested in deconstructing texts or aspires to be the next Peter Greenaway. It simply offers a few basic tips to the sort of beginner coming up against the opportunity to direct some drama or dramatization for the first time.
