ABSTRACT

There are numerous books with scenes from plays and movies. For this book, with a couple of exceptions, I have used only original material so that you can’t compare yourself with the original performer. In some of my acting and directing classes, in which we used scenes from produced movies, one actress would study the movie scene so thoroughly that she would always bring in a carbon-copy performance. When I asked her not to do this, she replied that the actresses she copied were so much better than she. Her theory was to emulate them on the chance that something would rub off in the process.
