ABSTRACT
A definition of ends is adopted as the architect's ambition and responsibility. The means - as a project effort - are of secondary importance - a point which requires no apology, but one which can lead many a designer astray. A holistic concern with the whole outcome is followed by a concern with constructional issues, then with issues of process.
