ABSTRACT
While many international alliances take the form of equity joint ventures where a company is owned by two or more parties, there are numerous examples where companies pool their resources for common causes. The three most common non-equity alliances are:
Research and development partnerships—where technology is developed and shared jointly
Joint marketing alliances
Consortium—where parties create a business organization (but not a stock company) to conduct business together
