ABSTRACT

It is necessary for any organisation to develop and uphold security standards and precautions which address the potential for attack. There must be frequent reassessment of risk factors. Whilst the overemphasis on potential dangers can create security procedures which stifle organisational development, each risk should be assessed and, at least, some contingencies created to deal with it. Warnings of potential attack should not be ignored (a common phenomenon – ‘it has happened to others but not to me’). Innovations by potential adversaries should be recognised. All of this requires an efficient and effective corporate intelligence function. It is this factor that will be examined in this chapter.
