ABSTRACT

BAA is the world's largest commercial operator of airports. It owns and operates seven UK airports — Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Southampton — which handle 71 per cent of air passenger traffic and 81 per cent of air cargo. BAA has successfully expanded into overseas markets and currently manages the Indianapolis Airport system and the shops and catering facilities at Pittsburgh Airport, both in the USA. BAA operates in four businesses: airport terminal management, retailing, project management and construction and property development.
