ABSTRACT

My purpose in this chapter is to begin to construct a background necessary for understanding the influence of classical and technical chaos on learning. Before considering the potential for chaotic learning, I want to note the learning theories that are predominant in the learning industry and demonstrate some relationships between the characteristics of those theories and the characteristics identified with classical and technical chaos. What is ultimately important is for us to consider ways in which chaos theory may be applied in concert with learning theory, to provide different and perhaps more effective ways to address learning events and the support of those events. There is a kernel relationship between what has been demonstrated in the studies of chaos in organizations and individuals and the ways in which we view learning events and processes.
