ABSTRACT

As the new order is secured in chaotic organizational systems, performance enhancement will replace current concepts of performance management and consulting. Self-organizing systems leave little to manage. They are self-managing. The focus, instead, is on ensuring that energy is maintained to the attractor for the system and that it is not overcome with bureaucracy and nuclear management. The focus is on the underlying pattern and not the details of the system's day-to-day trace. We will be interested in sustaining energy in systems that are diverse and volatile. Because many such systems will be virtual, the enhancers will help ensure high levels of interaction among the nodes or agents of the networks. Where these networks may have far-flung nodes with tentative connections, the enhancer will have the challenge of sustaining a balance between this tentative nature of the chaotic system and its tendency to stabilize. The role of performance enhancement is, therefore, a part of the makeup of the strange attractor, influencing the basic pattern underlying the chaotic system.
