ABSTRACT

The four major decision styles each offer advantages and disadvantages. There is no one style that will best fit with all situations. For example, a person most comfortable with the decisive style of decision making (one who uses a minimal amount of information to reach a satisfactory decision) would be well suited for a job requiring speed and consistent behavior. Likewise, a manager would be wise to choose a person with a flexible decision style (one who relies on minimal information but adjusts the decision based on new or reinterpretation of the material) if the employee is expected to rely upon ingenuity or adaptability to do the job.
