Discrimination and sexual harassment issues can significantly affect job performance and employee morale. They may also lead to legal problems. As a manager, you cannot ignore any such situation and must act promptly; you are legally responsible for recognizing and resolving these issues. Your human resource department should have established guidelines that all personnel must read and acknowledge in writing. If you don't have an HR department, be sure that you and your employees are aware of all federal and state guidelines. Read and understand Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
