ABSTRACT

As computers become more prevalent, stricter rules are necessary to ensure they are used correctly. More and more employers are monitoring computer and e-mail usage. The reasons for this are several-fold. The company may be held liable for inflammatory or defamatory remarks or sexual harassment on the part of employees using company computers. Additionally, such monitoring can safeguard against disclosure of information in discovery or regulatory proceedings. Employees must be able to notify their managers of any violations of these policies.
