ABSTRACT
Changing leadership in any company is a difficult time, but in a family-owned business it can be the most challenging of all the decisions the founder will have to make. He or she has to decide if there is a family member capable of taking the reins of the company. If not, then the management has to be turned over to someone outside the family.
