ABSTRACT

When you are at work, is there a relaxed, upbeat atmosphere? Does the boss stop and ask employees how their families are doing? Is everyone in a suit and tie? How would people react if you showed up at work with your oneyear-old daughter? Chances are that each company has its own set of standards and accepted behaviors. These attitudes and values that are prevalent throughout an organization are termed corporate culture. Factors that influence the culture range from the organizational structure to the attitudes and actions of management to the dress code. A company actively cultivates a particular kind of corporate culture to help establish its identity. For example, Microsoft has set a very loose dress code with flexible working hours. Both formal and informal frameworks define corporate cultures.
