ABSTRACT

Many organizations are changing the activities, methods, and equipment of employees in order to increase productivity. In many situations, it is strongly resisted by the employees even though change might make the job more interesting, challenging, and rewarding. The following case study illustrates the Motivational Work Design Model developed by Roy W. Walters on how to increase productivity with a maximum of acceptance on the part of employees. This theory maintains that productivity, quality, and job satisfaction can be attained if the job has five core characteristics.
