ABSTRACT

Any change that has an effect on job security and pay is very difficult to implement without causing a lot of resistance. The following case study illustrates the careful planning and implementation of a new incentive/piecework system. It describes an organization that had a great concern for its employees and considered them its most important asset. The empathy for its employees was constantly present as the change was made. The case also illustrates the effective use of both communication and participation in deciding on the specific change and getting it implemented with a high degree of acceptance. The organization decided that its name should not be made public.
