Clearly the Arrhenius equation does not necessarily apply to photochemical reactions, since here the energy initiating the reaction is unrelated to the temperature of the system. This is not to say, however, that photochemical reactions are necessarily unaffected by temperature (see below). Many of them consist overall of a sequence of reactions, some of which will be thermal (so-called 'dark') reactions. If these are the slowest part of the sequence (i.e. they are overall rate-determining) then the Arrhenius equation may apply.
