ABSTRACT

Single Frames or Double Frames? Ones or Twos? Most things can be animated suffi ciently well on double frames, ‘ twos ’, to make the added expense of single frames unnecessary. Sometimes an eff ect does not work when double framing is used, and then the extra drawings must be done. It is dangerous to animate on double frames during a table move ‘ pan ’ and/or camera track ‘ zoom ’ or ‘ truck ’. These moves are usually done on single frames for smoothness and the combination of doubles and singles can produce eff ects of ‘ jitter ’. Animation done on pegs which move on single frames, ‘ ones ’, must also be animated on single frames (see page 138). Animation to be matched to live action fi gures or characters has to be done with single frames or ‘ ones ’, since that would match the live action frames.
