ABSTRACT

Camera operators who don’t know how to edit or how a video should be put together will never really be good camera operators. The simple fact is that modern digital video cameras are incredible designs of electronic engineering, combining high-quality optics, microscopic digital circuitry, and mechanical precision in an extraordinarily small package. Video cameras work basically by focusing light through a lens onto a chip or a prism that splits the light into its three components—red, green, and blue—and sends each stream to a separate chip. An important feature of most video cameras is the ability to zoom in on a subject. Every video camera comes with some functions that are automated. There are three main auto functions: focus, exposure, and white balance. On most cameras there are four settings for white balance: automatic, daylight, tungsten light, and manual.
