Effects & Presets The Effects & Presets palette stores and sorts available effects and Animation Presets. At its simplest, it provides an alternative to the Effects menu to find and apply plug-in effects to layers. You can double-click an effect to apply it to a selected layer, or drag it from the palette to the layer. The palette’s Options menu (under the arrow in its upper right corner) gives you several choices on which effects you see and how they are sorted. You can search for effects by typing a few characters of their name into the Contains box (see figure to the right).
