ABSTRACT

Do you need to purchase any expensive programming languages in order to write sites using ASP? Not at all! For the material in this book you will need a text editor likeN otepad and the Personal Web Server application (or for NT /2000/XP owners, Internet Information Server (liS)) that comes bundled free with Windows 98. For database access (a major component of the book) you should have a copy of the Microsoft Access database. Other database programs are fine and will work with only minor alterations to the project, but we use Microsoft Access because it is so widespread and relatively easy to learn. Upcoming chapters explain how to install the relevant software needed and how to set up your PC to view ASP sites.
